Abstract
This research consisted of a validity study to evaluate the predictive power of the components of the University of Puerto Rico‘s admissions formula. The three components have been academic in nature: high school GPA, standardized aptitude tests scores, and standardized achievement tests scores. Various multiple regression equations were generated to determine the joint and individual predictive power of the formula components. Aptitude and achievement tests scores‘ predictive power were compared. Based on the research findings, recommendations for possible modifications to the admissions formula are proposed.
