Este trabajo está basado en la tesis sometida a la Facultad de la Universidad de Purdue, Indiana, para el grado de Doctor en Filosofía. La investigación se llevó a cabo bajo la dirección del profesor John M. Hadley. Fue leído, en forma condensada, ante la asociación Venezolana para el Avance de la Ciencia el 15 de junio de 1959.
