Abstract
This is a qualitative research -under the category of a case study- designed to document the strategies developed by a public school in order to come out of the classification of school under the improvement plan and avoid falling again under such category during the years 2001 and 2003. Data collection strategies included interviewing the school principal and two teachers, and the analysis of documents related to the development and implementation of the school improvement plan. The findings indicate that the faculty worked towards becoming knowledgeable in regards to the No Child Left Behind Act and were able to involve the entire community. The entire school community based their work around the administration of the "Pruebas Puertorriqueñas de Aprovechamiento Académico" implementing the strategies stipulated in their improvement plan and developing what they called "the culture of the Prueba Puertorriqueña".
