Abstract
This descriptive exploratory research held by the Center for Educational Leadership (CEL) identifies the competencies that the school principals need to develop and the competencies that the school superintendents want to develop to assist the school principals in their professional development. According to the perception of the school superintendents, the competencies of greater need for both school principals and superintendents were those related to the strategic leadership dimension and those of less interest were those related to political and community leadership dimension. The CEL is committed to organize professional development activities to develop educational leaders with the purpose of improving the schools in Puerto Rico for the new millennium.
