Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss female participation in the labor in Puerto Rico for the year 2000, as well as women educational level, according to occupations and principal occupational groups. A cross-analysis of 650 occupations and 10 educational levels was conducted, and the occupations held by female without education were also identified. The main findings show that the female labor force totaled 684,507 individuals, of which 5,997 reported no education; 56.57% had no post-secondary education, and only 2.29% obtained degrees at the first professional level or doctorates.
