Abstract
This essay outlines some general principles to be considered for promoting a culture of peace through the curriculum, taking as an example the experiences at the Elementary School of the University of Puerto Rico. First, it shares some methodological suggestions. Second, it integrates the critical pedagogy theory contributions to later define peace and culture of peace as fundamentals for the analysis. The next section deals with the curricular implications of these concepts, and names some of the contents that can be included in a curriculum of this type. Finally, it concludes with a summary of some important considerations to take into account in achieving the proposed goals.
