Abstract
With the goal of explaining what philosophy of technology is, various relevant terms are clarified. It is argued that the way our usage and comprehension of technology has evolved is due to contingent historical events which are then analyzed. There are themes that transcend the applied, concrete aspect of technology, which are generally ethical, legal and cultural. The philosophical problems of technology cannot be solved in a final way, since these are always interpreted according to different theoretical perspectives. It is concluded that it is important to maintain the conversation open concerning the philosophical questions concerning the use of technology.
