Abstract
The presence of the State in the Brazilian electricity sector significantly increased during the 1970s, achieving a hegemonic participation over a short time. The prolonged difficulties encountered in the impunding of resources in the national and international markets culminated in exhausting the state model, bringing about the implantation of a new model supported by an ambitious program of privatization. The struggle for strictly corporate finalities of the newly formed companies and the potential effects caused by the attention to consumers motivated this research, which seeks to verify if the new model has improved service conditions for domestic electricity consumers.By submitting a contribution to consideration of the Editorial Board of Fórum Empresarial, the authors attest that it is an original, unpublished work, which has not been nor will be simultaneously submitted to another journal for consideration and publication; that they are responsible for the work carried out and the content of the article; and they have the corresponding copyrights.
