Abstract
In this essay the Author presents a wide overview on the understandiong of aesthetics in the writings of a philosopher whose life production he has described in a series of former texts. The span of Carla Cordua's aesthetic and artistic interests is wide and our author gleans her thoughts through her main woorks as well as in her shorter writings. Cordua addresses the views on aesthetics of various philosophers and also her own. She then proceeds to elaborate on the nature of art and its history, its relations with philosophy and sociology. She also refers to the relations between art, art work, and artist and the way art has been received in its different manifestations. She finally deals quite extensively with literary criticism of various singular authors, especially of those who study life's alleged lack of meaning.
