Abstract

This essay explores the ever present duality in Arguedas‘ work, a bridge of words that brings closer the Andean and the Western worlds, Quechua and Spanish, oral tradition and writing and Perú‘s mountain range and coast. We approach this tinku (the Quechua notion for the conflictive blending of opposites) through a close reading of his translations, his bilingual poetry and fragments of his novels.
