Abstract
This study analyses the citation patterns of 20 research projects from the Master‘s Degree in Business Administration; Graduate Program at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus between the years 2012 and 2019. The analysis measures include: establishing the types of materials, their age, library availability and the citation of open access journals. The results show that the average number of citations per project is 40 references. The format with the highest number of citations corresponds to journal articles. The average age of the cited references is 10 years. It is also found that students combine resources available from the library with those located in open access. The study concludes with recommendations for the improvement of library services to these types of students and it is confirmed that the citation analysis technique is still one of the most important tools that librarians have to evaluate their collection and the research activities of their users.
