  1. Information Needs and Behavior of Spanish-speaking Communities in Times of Social, Economic, and Political Changes.
This pilot study looks into uncovering and describing emerging information needs and behaviors of Spanish-speakers in times of social, economic and political changes living in Worcester, MA during Trump’s election in 2016. The study took a mixed methods approach with a triangulation research design. Results show that there has been an increase in the needs of immigration information and local resources to help cope with the current political landscape. There also has been a poor engagement of Spanish-speakers with the library because of limitations with transportation and a lack of Spanish-speaking staff. Moreover, Spanish-speakers feel misinformed with the services offered in their local public library. Some of them suggested more outreach and partnerships with other non-governmental organizations.
