Abstract

This paper approaches a varying form of copula sentences, which is not allowed in Spanish grammar, although it is present in many Spanish speakers in Puerto Rico, that is, a sentence which introduces the pronoun one as part of the predicate: La temporada es una buena (The season is a good one). Anglicism is also discussed here given that its use is endorsed in Englis grammar, and could serve as an example for Spanish speakers. Nevertheless, this paper attempts to give theoretical explanations based upon functional trends from a morphosyntactic perspective (anaphor) as well as semantic (opposite meanings within a scale of relationships).
