Abstract
This article intends to rescue the literary work of a Puerto Rican poet José A. Lanauze Rolón. Also, it analyzes the criticism of nineteenth century nihilism, and the search of a new religion that fuses the faith in nature, and the progress of science. This article also examines the skepticism of progress in the poetry of Lanauze‘s book Momentos (Moments), yet it also considers the faith in science, particularly the final essay included in the book, "Essay on the New Faith or the Modern Spirit".This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
