Ser-con-los-demás – Comunión cósmica en el Cántico de Ernesto Cardenal

Abstract

Ernesto Cardenal, the Nicaraguan poet nominated for a Nobel Prize in Literature, is widely known for his studies on political themes, the revolution and the defense of Marxism. The sum of his work is reflected in more than 500 pages of his ;Cántico Cósmico ; where he intertwines his theme with science and religion. This article, arguments that in essence, the recurring theme in everything else, is the "Christ-centric" search as a link. Just like for the revolutionary, who understands the Marxist union as the social victory in his transcending formula of the self and uniting with another; likewise, for the priest rooted in the saying "Love thy neighbor like one's self" which proclaims solidarity and brotherhood as the most important human conquest. On the other hand, it's not Catholicism the only root it explores. In ;Cántico ; the tour of human history is demonstrated as open and permeated, to sidereal cultures and ancestral creeds. The theoretical points of science are the medium to present an aperture of ideas and emphasize that the communion of man is achieved only in the other, in a being-like-the-rest.
