Resumen
En el presente escrito, se realizó un recorrido histórico sobre pandemias y epidemias de enfermedades infecciosas que han dejado su huella a través del mundo. Se detalló la manera en la que se ha abordado la temática de la salud mental como consecuencia de tales eventos históricos. Esta mirada histórica se presentó como un posible panorama de lo que se podría experimentar a raíz de la pandemia actual con el COVID-19. Se evidenció la falta de atención a la salud mental ante eventos de emergencia y la necesidad de investigación sobre el tema.
