Abstract

The article begins with a discussion of the term epistemology, and its relationship with the discipline of Social Work. Then, we proceed to define the concept child and adolescent sexual abuse and to explain how the epistemological view performed over the notion will determine how to interpret and conceptualize the problem. The paper continúes with an epistemological analysis of the concept child and adolescent sexual abuse through structural functionalism, feminism, and postmodernism. We conclude exposing relevant contrasts and some implications for professional practice.
