Abstract
This research explored the meaning of love in marriage with a long term relationship. The participants of the study were 14 couples selected by availability, between 65 and 93 years of age, with 35 years or more in his marital relation. These marriages were in the family life cycle denominated 'empty nest'. In depth interviews were conducted, which were analyzed using content analysis. The categories of analysis were: concept of the love, the notion of marriage, and the causes for maintaining the relationship and expressions of love. Among the results obtained: love is multidimensional construct; where it is most significant dimension of intimacy and commitment that passion. Propose future lines of research in long-term marriage.Downloads
