Abstract
The article analyzes José Donoso's book of poetry, entitled Poems of a Novelist (1985), which represents a change of direction in his novelistic trajectory. Donoso's novels constantly show a detritus poetic, apocalyptic space, and a tendency towards the grotesque and ominous. His poetry is completely opposite. In this poetry, there is a new definition of both novel and poetry genres. For Donoso, the novel must be similar to poetry, while poetry must assume the characteristics of the Nineteenth Century novel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
