Abstract

This paper aims at identifying the mechanism used by a group of college students to compensate for the lack of face to face interactions when irony, falsehood or a disdain are implied in Internet communication. This research follows the theoretical framework of Cyberpragmatics, as proposed by Francisco Yus, which in turn is supported on the principles of the Relevance Theory of Sperber y Wilson.
