Abstract
When talking about the Antilles we can identify many similarities: the climate, the history and the literature. The Antilles's literature of XIX century shows the social and political situation of that era. The Puerto Rican and Cuban dramas, La cuarterona and El mulato, are examples of a discourse of anti racism that many writers insert in their texts. Those dramas open the door to a new discussion: the slavery produced by class differences. Writers like Tapia y Rivera and Torroella recognize the necessity of changes from the individuality of the readers to the collective of the society. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
