Abstract
This paper is actually an oral presentation in a conference panel discussion Repensando el concepto de salud mental, held at the Jornada de Salud Mental en Puerto Rico: Deshaciendo lo imposible. It presents a critical conceptualization of the mental health category and what has meant for those who request services and for those who provide them: psychologists. From a developmental and well-being perspective, it discusses the responsibility of the academy in the training of future professionals dealing with the hegemonic discourses. As an example of a liberating effort from this discourse, it presents the teaching methods of the core courses of clinical psychology: Psychodiagnostic and Psychotherapy.Downloads
