Resumen
El balance apropiado en la ambidextralidad del emprendimiento puede llevar a las empresas a alcanzar una ventaja competitiva. El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar cómo la exploración y explotación de oportunidades, en una ambidextralidad balanceada, afectan la competitividad. Además, se estudió la orientación al mercado y al emprendimiento como antecedentes de la ambidextralidad emprendedora. El estudio explicativo contó con una muestra de 106 dueños de empresas y altos directivos de Puerto Rico y utilizó el PLS para probar las hipótesis. Los resultados evidencian que la contribución combinada de la orientación al mercado y la orientación al emprendimiento a través de la exploración y explotación de oportunidades aumenta la competitividad de la empresa. Sin embargo, los resultados del estudio resaltan un sesgo hacia la exploración que confirma que una falta de equilibrio en la ambidextralidad resulta en una competitividad limitada.
