Abstract
This analysis attempts to acquaint the reader with the Puerto Rican poetry of the first decade of the 21st century. This paper reviews poetry of the 20th century‘s literary developments, as well as the features, issues, structures and transgress attitude of the poetic texts from a sample of four poets of the first decade of the 21st century: Maida Colón, Mayra Santos Febres, David Caleb Acevedo and Federico Irizarry Natal, in the light of the concept of literary transgression developed by Wolfgang Iser. This writing highlights the poetic texts of the new century as texts "in flight", whose speakers enfranchise themselves from the canons of criticism and from society‘s power structures, to explore new identity speeches and build their own subjectivity.
