Abstract
A recent book by an outstanding Indian author functions as a documentary exposition ofthe basic lines of quantum physics from the 20th Century on. Once the positions of the various scholars of this period have been established and compared with the views of the previous "modern" era, the author proceeds to characterize the philosophical differences between both periods and between individual scholars, and their implications for the establishment of a new conception of what Reality may be. He names five main differences. In relation to divergent conceptions among quantum physicists, he relies in Mario Bunge‘s views (of whose works the author is a specialist), recognizing his realism, as opposed to views reminiscent of Plato‘s, or tending to a certain phenomenalism, and equally establishing his materialist conception in the sense in which this position diverges from a mere descriptivism of experiential knowledge.
