Abstract
Living under colonial rule presupposes a deep and intangible effect known as internalized colonialism, colonial mentality or coloniality, which represents the most broader spectrum of people‘s domination that may exist (Maldonado Torres, 2007; Osterhammel, 2002). This article shows the construction and validation process of a standardized instrument known as the Escala sobre Colonialismo para Puertorriqueños/as (ECP) [Internalized Colonialism Scale for Puerto Ricans] The purpose of developing such scale was to have an instrument available to quantitatively measure the amount of internalized colonialism within the Puerto Rican adults, and also to connect it to the possibility of future research on the topic. Besides, the article will present the relevance and implications of this contribution to Social Work education and practice.Downloads
