Multidimensional analysis of the publication patterns of Puerto Rico in the Science Citation Index a during the period from 1980 to 1998

Abstract

The documents published in the different scientific disciplines, what constitutes the profile or pattern of publication of a country or region, is an indicator by which you can know those disciplines that have a higher or lower priority, both by researchers and by the scientific system of that country or region, thus identifying trends of research over time. This article is intended identify the changes that have taken place in the priorities of research in Puerto Rico, by analyzing the theme of the documents published in indexed journals in the Science Citation Index a (SCI), of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) of Philadelphia, during the period 1980-1998.
