Abstract
Narciso Dobal‘s artistic training was, like his work, very unconventional. Despite he had opportunities that not all artists of his generation could aspire to had, the time he lived in was marked by war and other economic and social conflicts. Interested in art since childhood, Dobal was accompanied in his school and university years by prominent figures in the visual arts and literature. Thus, as we approach this first stage of its artistic development, we obtain a glimpse of the artistic scene in Puerto Rico in the 1930s.
