Abstract
This article focuses on how two elders from the town of Loíza, Puerto Rico, use witnessing to help them contribute socially and spiritually. Witnessing refers to a past experience, which through verbal and nonverbal mechanisms, allows the witness to re-experience what is being narrated. Therefore, this article elaborates an interpretation of religion in its various dimensions and encourages readers to think critically about the social and spiritual role of the elderly in contemporary society.Downloads
