Abstract
The data recorded during a plant cane crop and the first ratoon of an experiment established on Aguirre clay, a Vertisol of the Lajas Valley, indicate that NCo 310, PR 980 and PR 1013 performed better than the other commercial varieties based on sugar production. Agronomic characteristics, such as germination and ratooning ability, number of stalks per linear foot, and resistance to deterioration, were also determined.
