Abstract

Children who are raised in homes where alcohol defines one or more authority figures tend to be isolated children, susceptible to depression and lack of control over violent emotions, as well as growing up to be adults who have more probability of becoming alcoholics themselves. This article explores these consequences through a precise and abundant revision of literature, in which they find a pattern of maltreatment and negative influence over children from such homes. The author present several alternatives and strategies that could start a process of diminution on the percentage of children affected by this phenomenon, at home, at school and in their community.
