Abstract

This research aims to determine if there is still discrimination against women in the workplace. To this effect, occupation rates and wages between male and female employees were compared by sector. The most outstanding finds show that women have been able to venture successfully in many occupations that were previously practically reserved to men, and that they have achieved positions in industries dominated by male employment. We also found that women‘s wages reflect a substantial increase in general; however, other research findings prove the existence of a certain degree of discrimination against women. This discrimination is deduced from the low proportion of women employed in certain industrial and occupational sectors, as well the fact that they are paid lower wages for their work compared to men in some of these sectors.
