Abstract
One of the possible factors that explains the high percentage of failures in mathematics courses is the student‘s attitude toward mathematics. Moreover, a low attitude towards mathematics may affect the student performance in other quantitative courses in Business Administration. In this study we translated and adapted the short version of the instrument Attitude toward Mathematics Inventory from English to Spanish. We demonstrated the validity and reliability of the translated instrument to measure student‘s attitude toward mathematics. We found a gender difference: male students have a better attitude than female students regarding self-confidence. Moreover, students of both genders, recognize the value of mathematics, but have a low attitude in terms of enjoyment and motivation.
