Abstract

Puerto Rico's year-round tropical climate and beaches attract many sunbathers, increasing the risk of skin cancer. UV light exposure damages DNA, leading to mutations and increased melanin production, causing skin darkening or reddening. To prevent skin cancer such as melanoma, avoid sun exposure during peak hours, wear protective clothing, and use SPF 30+ sunscreen. These measures help enjoy outdoor activities safely, reducing the risk of skin damage and cancer.
