Abstract
The article presents partial results of an investigation on the Puerto Rican press. The length of the sentences is one of the elements that, according to some theorists, characterize this medium; however, no empirical research has been conducted on the subject. The results indicate that the average sentence length in an article consists of fifty words. The length and compexity of the sentence structure could be elements that make the text difficult to comprehend for the average reader.
