Abstract
Among the more than 669 characters that make their appearance in Cervantes' work, bachellor Sansón Carrasco -along with the Priest and the Barber- represents the antithesis of the cervantine main protagonist and incurs in a madness bordering on the grotesque for lack of authenticity in the role played. In the presence of Don Quijote's sincerity and vital devotion, the Knight of Mirrors or of the White Moon, will never shine as such and much less as an academic with a degree from Salamanca. He is the embodiment of the quixotic aphorism: "many are errant, but very few are knights."
