Abstract
This article aims to present a brief sketch of the literary opus of one of the most important among Dominican women writers of the Twentieth Century, Hilma Contreras. She firmly holds the seat of honor as forebear of the feminine Dominican short story writers, writing about women. She shares this distinction with her masculine counterpart, the illustrious, all-time champion of Dominican writers, Juan Bosch. The present year 2010 is the hundredth anniversary of this writer's birth, so that this article wants to be a short and humble homage to her life, and especially, her work.
