Abstract
The study of memory as an inherent faculty in organisms has called the attention for many years to philosophers, psychologists, psychiatrists, biologists, among other researchers in the disciplines of the ample gamut associated with natural sciences. Moreover, the understanding of memory as a human faculty has suffered countless transformations in response to the rapid growing evidence that continues tracing and shaping the path of research in this field of knowledge. The following paper will focus on describing and establishing the advances in the area of memory supported by empirical results, with a special attention to the unconscious and conscious systems of memory and its implications for the field of Clinical Psychology.
