Abstract

In the Puerto Rican society exists a series of problems that affect all individuais, groups, families and communities. One of the problems that we are referring to is suicide, which affects a large amount of teenagers in Puerto Rico. Even though this last theme is hardly mentioned, reality is that suicidal behavior between teenagers has made a considerable impact on the population of our country. As a consequence, it's necessary for us, professionals of the human conduct, to identify models and strategies that permit us to intervene with this type of problem. One innovatíve model that could be considered to intervene in an alternate way that proceeds against suicidal behavior in teenagers is videowork. This type of therapy consists of watching movies that permits the participants to observe the problems and situations of the characters in a new perspective (Hesley, 1998). Having the movies an important and intrigue part in our teenager's popular culture, movie therapy is presented as an alternate way of working with this population.
