On the Fight Between Vices and Virtues

Abstract

Allegorical images of virtues and vices developed throughout the High Middle Ages in Western Europe, giving rise to the typical representations of the first centuries of the Late Middle Ages. Starting from the definition of the concept and the literary sources that configure their representation, their evolution is fundamentally evidenced in the survival of certain attributes or symbols throughout its development, which will even survive until the 21st century.
