Abstract
Juan Acha has become an essential voice for art criticism in Latin America. His book Las culturas estéticas de América Latina, among others, set the paradigms of his thinking, which, not without contradictions, advocated a true, authentic, idiosyncratic art of an entire continent, far from the serfdom that, as he pointed out, some artists expressed regarding the languages of European modernity.
