Los anglicismos, los hablantes y los sistemas lingüísticos: relaciones

Abstract

Puerto Rico has two official languages: Spanish and English, due to its political status of Commonwealth of the United States. Even though that only 25% of the Puerto Ricans are bilingual, Spanish, which is the native tongue, has to allow English to be used especially on the formal register (written and administrative language). Also, the circular migration that occurs in the Island has made possible the use of both languages in every potential setting. In this article we describe several linguistic changes that have been identified.
