Abstract
This article explores and compares the romantic and political vision of the poets through exile. It analyzes the strong feeling of nostalgia in Gómez de Avellaneda, as an ongoing therapy to overcome her present in a foreign country. In this way the ideal homeland is made up by memories. It also studies the abstract and universal concept of homeland as well as the historical and colonial background of Spanish Caribbean countries in Mi libro de Cuba (1893) by nineteenth century Puerto Rican poet Lola Rodríguez de Tió.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
