Abstract

In the analysis of this short story by Ana Lydia Vega, the elements studied are the representation of the body of masculine and feminine characters, as well as the link that is established between the acts of violence narrated in the text and the social and discursive construction of gender. Emphasis is given to the way in which the masculine gaze functions in the story as an important determinant of power relations and to the highly political dimension of several acts of violence that are perpetrated within the context of gender relations.
