Abstract

This article aims to establish a dialogue between several narrative techniques used by Mario Bellatin and a poetic of textual disarticulation. By means of a close reading of Flores (2001) and El gran vidrio (2007), we will explore the hypothesis that these texts by this Mexican writer are designed as a laboratory that continuously reflects but also modifies the author's initial absence on a corporeal level. The interpretation of the novels is framed around Deleuze and Guattari's notion of the rhizome as stated in A Thousand Plateaus. The body of these texts is fragmented, unstable, ever changing, like the figure of the rhizome. We will emphasize the constant permutations of stories that appear time and again, the unstableness of identity of some of his characters, and the false trails that refer to a very special reading pact between the author and his public.
