Abstract
This essay explores where journalists in Puerto Rico stands in regard to the fundamental values of their profession, at a time that Internet has impacted the way that information is produced and it has put at risk traditional media's economic stability and their hegemony as information source. Using the survey method, this research found that journalist in Puerto Rico are identified with the value of thruth and objectivity-traits thta belong to the profile of the journalist "disseminator", one that adheres to his or her reporting function rather than to this or her role as interpreter or adversary of power. Also, against corruption and strenghtens the democratic system. Ehile they understand their social role, journalists‘ opinions are divided on the values of their profession that claim that the audience must be their primary loyalty and that journalistic work should independent of the interest ofthe media owners. In addition, they absolutly put aside as a value to keep distance from sources of information.Downloads
