Abstract
This article examines the recent academic discussion about the possible exsistence of a global ruling class. The arguments of five scholars about what has been called the transnational capitalist class are examined in detail. These authors are: Leslie Sklair, Saskia Sassen, Kees van der Pijl, William Robinson, and William K. Carroll. The arguments of these different authors are compared and their importance for understanding the present forms of imperialism is considered.Downloads
