Abstract

The modern organization is challenged to meet optimum levels of development and efficacy in a highly competitive environment. As an essential part of its agenda it must be responsible to their workers. Sometimes, the practices used tend to act against the organizational development and well being of their workers. The quality of the working environment and the human relations interactions that emerge from it reflect through the individual, group and organizational behavior levels of analysis. In this article we discuss diverse aspects related to some organizational practices and conditions identified by the aggressiveness with a negative direct or indirect effect on workers, their families, the organization itself and the society as a whole. Various organizational practices and dynamics characterized by the aggression phenomena are discussed, particularly those that stimulate unnecessary conflicts, unequal treatment and inequity in the workplace. We also discuss the function and manifestation of the negative stress role in the aggression processes as precedent or detonation consequence. Cultural and organizational characteristics in the context of aggression and the management role and responsibility are emphasized. The organizational importance of their social responsibility is stressed recognizing the potential negative impact of the aggression phenomena in the workers mental health condition. We also consider the discussion of the challenges and opportunities of the modern organization in the management of essential related matters.
