Abstract

The author examines studies about homosexualities in the Caribbean and describes the complexities of sexualities and methodological challenges related to these complexities. He also identifies pioneer and representative studies about homosexual desire and enumerates obstacles for the development of such studies. Using studies about masculinitites, he identifies the need to explore the meanings attributed to sexuality as a necessary element to explore research on sexuality in general, and homosexualities in particular. Finally, the author identifies methodological challenges related to studies on homosexual desire concluding with recommendations related to the complex world of sex between men.
