Abstract
This essay keeps track on how freudian and lacanian psychoanalytic theory addresses the phenomenon of violence. It also explores the relation between the psychoanalytic paradigm and modes of explanation assumed in some contemporary debates about violence. This research aims to identify the tensions, intersections and overlap between psychoanalytic and public law/state law through the analysis of family court cases and its relationship to violence. It also intends to analyze family as a signifier, emerging subjectivations and their relation to what is legally prescribed.Downloads
